We are absolutely
thrilled to have
finally recorded
an album with
Bobby Shew, one
of the great
trumpeters. His
beautiful playing
has inspired us
on so many
occasions over
the past ten or
twelve years, but
never more so
than during the
recording of this
album. His
incredible power and
range and his
great lyrical ballad
playing show an
amazing breadth
of ability which
sets him apart
from lesser
mortals. Added to this
his obvious
affection for younger
people who are
anxious and eager
to learn, and the
patience he shows, all indicate the generous spirit of a man at ease
with himself and his talent. Many thanks, Bobby, for playing on this
album with us, and for all your help in it's production.

Bobby Shew is now a
regular
visitor to the UK, performing and
broadcasting
throughout the
country, arid
teaching at many of
the music colleges.
His first visit
as a solo artist
came about in
the 80's through
his friendship
with trumpeter Paul
Davis, who
invited
him to perform with his
own 'Outrageous Big
Band' in
Birmingham. When Paul moved to
London, Bobby
agreed to what
has
become a series of enjoyable dates
with MYJO over
several years,
finally
resulting in this
album. |
